Live-Work Spintex
Live-Work Spintex introduces a new building typology for the transitional urban zone between Accra and Tema. Located along a major arterial road, the project addresses the lack of flexible spaces for young professionals in an area marked by rapid commercial and residential development.
The four-story building combines private offices, five live-work studios, and shared amenities, including meeting rooms, a communal kitchen, breakout spaces, and a rooftop terrace. A central staircase connects all floors, promoting interaction among users.
The design is defined by a concrete lamella façade that serves as both structural exoskeleton and environmental filter—providing east-west shading and giving the building its visual identity. Interior spaces are enclosed by a second layer of earth-block and glass walls, set back from the façade to form semi-outdoor zones that improve ventilation and thermal comfort.
By integrating living and working functions with a climate-responsive design, Live-Work Spintex offers a scalable model for contemporary urban lifestyles in peripheral Accra.
